What happened?
Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army sergeant who plead guilty to desertion charges last week, lauded the Taliban in a recent interview with the Sunday Times Magazine of London.
Bergdahl said: "At least the Taliban were honest enough to say, ‘I’m the guy who’s gonna cut your throat.'"
Former President Barack Obama exchanged five Taliban prisoners in May 2014 to secure Bergdahl's release from the jihadis, who had held him for five years. Bergdahl will be sentenced in a military courtroom on Monday at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, according to Fox News.
After Bergdahl's comments began to make headlines, Donald Trump Jr. had a stern response to the disgraced soldier.
What did Trump Jr. say?
Trump Jr. wrote on social media early Sunday:
How does the Taliban treat their deserters? I imagine it would be different if you got 6 of their guys killed. https://t.co/72OgC4CRZ2— Donald Trump Jr. (@Donald Trump Jr.) 1508670039.0
Trump Jr's tweet alluded to the fact that six U.S. soldiers were killed while searching for Bergdahl in the years he was missing. Multiple rescue operations were initiated. None were successful.
