WASHINGTON — Pro-life activists gathered Friday for the 45th annual March for Life in the nation’s capital.
The March for Life — described by organizers as the world’s largest pro-life gathering — takes place each year on or near Jan. 22, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Marchers begin at a rally on the National Mall and proceed to the Supreme Court in protest of the ruling.

Speakers who will address the rally in person include House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.), Chris Smith (R-N.J.) and Dan Lipinski (D-Mich.). Additional speakers include Kay Coles James, president of The Heritage Foundation, and former NFL player Matt Birk.
