The New York Police Department shared a harrowing video on Tuesday, showing one of its brave police officers risking his life to save a motorist from a fiery demise.

What are the details?

Body camera footage captured the moment an officer — who remains unnamed at the time of this reporting — rushed over to a vehicle that crashed into a Bronx storefront and burst into flames in late November.

A motorist was trapped inside the vehicle, prompting the officer to wrench open the driver's side door and pull the man out before it was too late.

According to the New York Post, officers on the scene attempted to extinguish the blaze while the other officer jumped into action to pull the disoriented male victim from the vehicle.

NYPD News' Twitter page shared the video, captioning it, "When seconds matter, NYPD officers are here for New Yorkers — at any cost. We're fortunate that the driver of a vehicle engulfed in flames wasn't seriously injured and grateful to count these heroes as NY's Finest."

At the time of this reporting, the video has been viewed more than 13,000 times.

What else is there to know about this?

NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea lauded the responding officers for their bravery in a tweet.

He wrote, "This is how quickly your cops shift gears from crime fighters to life savers — going into harm’s way every day to protect human life, to keep strangers safe. Truly a noble calling — they earn every bit of the name NY’s #Finest."

No further details have been released at the time of this reporting, including the identities of the motorist or the officer who saved him.
