California professor allegedly brags about sexual relations with a 5-year-old in undercover FBI sting

A California professor is accused of trying to lure a 7-year-old girl and allegedly spoke about sexual acts with an 11-year-old and a 5-year-old to an undercover FBI agent.

Fox News reports that Rodger "Rod" Githens, an associate professor at the University of the Pacific, allegedly met an undercover FBI agent on the gay dating app Grindr and then proceeded to speak further with the agent on the Telegram messaging app.

On the messaging service, Githens is accused of having graphic conversations with the law enforcement agent about having sexual relations with children.

Githens allegedly said that he "made out, touched" a 5-year-old and would "love to make out" with the FBI agent and his 7-year-old niece.

"Would love to make out with you both. Touch you both. Eat her p***y," Githens allegedly wrote, according to an affidavit.

Githens allegedly claimed that he's "experienced" and that he would bring the 7-year-old her favorite chocolate bar and an Ariel doll, the character from "The Little Mermaid."

"Honestly I love chatting but would love to have a dad or uncle invite me," Githens allegedly added.

The FBI agent also allegedly asked Githens if had done any "touching" with kids, to which he allegedly replied that he groped his husband's nephew in Mexico.

"With my husband's [11-year-old] nephew I did."

On April 19, 2023, agents executed a search warrant, questioned the professor, and looked through his phone. Agents allegedly found multiple examples of child pornography, which included a video he sent of a minor performing oral sex on an adult male.

"Hope it won’t freak you out ... I get it completely it’s pretty extreme," Githens allegedly said alongside one of the videos.

Githens' husband, despite the allegations, said that he wasn't aware of any of the professor's alleged possession or distribution of child pornography.

Githens was charged with receipt and distribution of images of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, according to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California that was obtained by Fox News.

"The university does not comment on ongoing legal proceedings," said a spokesperson for the University of the Pacific, which placed the professor on administrative leave.

"While we have received no information of illegal acts involving the university or university property, we are nevertheless launching an independent review by an external investigator."
