CNN flat-out refuses to air Trump ad about Biden-Ukraine ties — in part because it mocks CNN anchors

'It does not meet our advertising standards'

CNN has refused to air an advertisement for President Donald Trump's 2020 presidential re-election campaign, which blasts CNN anchors and blasts Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden.

What are the details?

According to a Thursday report by The Daily Beast, the 30-second advertisement — titled "Biden Corruption" — zeroes in on Biden, as well as the media's apparent defense of the former vice president's past political activities in Ukraine.

The ad specifically features CNN hosts Chris Cuomo, Jim Acosta, and Don Lemon — all who have been vocally critical of the president.

A spokesperson for the news network told the outlet that the advertisement reportedly doesn't meet standards.

“CNN is rejecting the ad, as it does not meet our advertising standards," a spokesperson said. “Specifically, in addition to disparaging CNN and its journalists, the ad makes assertions that have been proven demonstrably false by various news outlets, including CNN."

Tim Murtaugh, Trump's campaign communications director, told the outlet that CNN's move is par for the course.

“CNN spends all day protecting Joe Biden in their programming, so it's not surprising that they're shielding him from truthful advertising too, and then talking to other media outlets about it," Murtaugh said. "This isn't a cable news channel anymore, it's a Democrat public relations firm."

The ad says, "Joe Biden promised Ukraine $1 billion if they fired the prosecutor investigating his son's company. But when President Trump asks Ukraine to investigate corruption, the Democrats want to impeach him. And their media lapdogs fall in line."

Trump shared the ad on his Twitter page, captioning it, "I AM DRAINING THE SWAMP!"
