DeSantis slams Trump for embracing support from Black Lives Matter: He did nothing but tweet 'LAW & ORDER!'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ripped former President Donald Trump for embracing support from Black Lives Matter.

Mark Fisher is an advocate for the Black Lives Matter chapter in Rhode Island. Fisher claims to be the "co-founder" of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island. However, that assertion is disputed by Gary Dantzler – the founder and executive director of Black Lives Matter RI, Inc.

"Mark Fisher stated he was one of the co-founders of BLM," Dantzler said. "Absolutely not. He was a respected advocate for BLM. That’s it. And he was paid and somewhere he got fired and demoted."

Fisher appeared on Fox News this week, where the BLM activist voiced his support for Trump while he also blasted Democrats for being a "racist party."

"It's the duplicity of the Democrats, the hypocrisy," Fisher said during a Tuesday appearance on "Fox & Friends." "We're not stupid. The brothers are not stupid. We understand when someone's for us and when someone is not, and it's obvious that the Democratic Party is not for us."

"The policies actually strike at the heart of the black family and the nuclear family," he told host Lawrence Jones.

"We've been used and abused for so long by that party, they don't value our vote," Fisher said. "Their policies are basically racist policies. I believe it's a racist party. Donald Trump is just the opposite. He's going to tell you how it is. He's going to give it to you straight."

"Trump has done more for the black community than I can any president I can think of in my lifetime," he added.

The sound bite caught Trump's attention.

"Spoke with Mark Fisher yesterday, a great guy, very honored to have his and BLM’s support," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump continued, "I have done more for Black people than any other President (Lincoln?), including 10 year funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, where they had none, Opportunity Zones, Criminal Justice Reform, and much more. Thank you to Mark!"

Trump previously condemned Black Lives Matter.

Trump said in 2015, "I think they're trouble. I think they're looking for trouble."

In 2020, Trump described BLM as a "symbol of hate."

DeSantis utilized Trump's new-found admiration of Black Lives Matter to attack his GOP primary opponent.

"BLM praising Donald Trump — and Trump celebrating it — makes perfect sense," DeSantis said on the X social media platform.

"When BLM was burning down cities and assaulting police officers in cities across this country, Trump did nothing but sit in the White House tweeting 'LAW & ORDER!' We did it differently in Florida. I didn’t just tweet. I took action and called up the National Guard," DeSantis declared on Wednesday.

"We were not going to let our cities burn," the Republican governor continued. "As President, I will not sit idly by and watch rioters torch American cities."

Also on Wednesday, Trump blasted DeSantis as an "absentee governor of Florida."

"Ron DeSanctimonious has become an absentee governor of Florida, never there, not working," Trump proclaimed. "The same thing happened to Sloppy Chris Christie. He failed in New Jersey, and left with an 8% approval rating, lowest ever for a governor. Get back to Florida, Ron, and do what you campaigned on, which was NOT running for President. Fix the highest in the Nation Insurance problem. Oh, and you’re 54 Points down!"

CNN reported on Wednesday that Trump will skip the fourth Republican primary debate in Alabama next week. Instead of debating his GOP primary challengers on Dec. 6, Trump will reportedly attend a private fundraising event for his campaign in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

Trump has been absent from all of the GOP primary debates. Trump has justified ducking the debates because of his commanding lead in the polls.
