Elon Musk describes DEI as racist: 'DEI ... is not merely immoral, it is also illegal'

Business tycoon Elon Musk has been blasting DEI, which stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Musk described DEI ideology as both unlawful and racist.

"DEI is just another word for racism. Shame on anyone who uses it," Musk wrote in a post on X. "Discrimination on the basis of race, which DEI does, is literally the definition of racism," he noted in another post. "DEI, because it discriminates on the basis of race, gender and many other factors, is not merely immoral, it is also illegal," he tweeted.

In response to Musk, GOP Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia quipped, "Careful Elon, you’re gonna have the libs clamoring to repeal the Civil Rights Act if they can’t discriminate against white people!"

Mark Cuban, a businessman widely known for his many years on the television show "Shark Tank," responded to Musk by expressing a positive view of DEI.

"You may not agree, but I take it as a given that there are people of various races, ethnicities, orientation, etc that are regularly excluded from hiring consideration. By extending our hiring search to include them, we can find people that are more qualified. The loss of DEI-Phobic companies is my gain," Cuban tweeted. "Treating people equally does not mean treating them the same. I made the mistake for a lot of years thinking it did," he wrote. "This is what Inclusion is all about. Making all employees, no matter who they are or how they see themselves, feel comfortable in their environment and able to do their jobs," Cuban posted.

Musk also hammered DEI last month as well.

"DEI must DIE. The point was to end discrimination, not replace it with different discrimination," he posted in December. "'Diversity, Equity and Inclusion' are propaganda words for racism, sexism and other -isms. This is just as morally wrong as any other racism and sexism. Changing the target class doesn't make it right!" he noted.
