'Let's go Brandon!' chant breaks out at youth wrestling event; Democrat operative whines that it's 'height of indoctrination'

After a "Let's go Brandon!" chant broke out at a Missouri youth wrestling event — and a Republican state representative posted the video of it on Twitter — a leader of a pro-Democrat group complained that chant represents the "height of indoctrination."

What are the details?

GOP Missouri state Rep. Aaron McMullen posted the clip Saturday and said in a subsequent tweet that the chanting took place in the Cable Dahmer Arena, which is in Independence. The Kansas City Star reported that the Adidas Wrestling Nationals — a K-12 tournament — was held at the venue Thursday through Saturday.

“What’s happening in Independence, MO?" McMullen wrote along with the video. "Don’t ever let them tell you we are losing the youth. Let’s Go Brandon!”

The clip shows a large group of kids smacking a wrestling mat between chants of "Let's go Brandon!" The chant has been heard at numerous sporting events in the last couple of years as code for “F*** Joe Biden!"

The Star reported that McMullen initially agreed to an interview Monday but did not return several follow-up calls and texts from the paper, adding that the tournament's event manager also did not respond to an email and call seeking comment.

'The height of indoctrination'

The Star added that state Democrats criticized the video as political indoctrination of kids and complained about the chant's off-color meaning.

Jessica Piper — executive director of Blue Missouri, a group that fundraises for Democrats — told the paper that "there are so many people willing to throw teachers under the bus and defund schools and making up stories about teachers indoctrinating children or the left indoctrinating children. Leading kids on a chant of ‘Let’s go Brandon’ is the height of indoctrination, and they do it out there, and they’re willing to film it and to put it online.”

It appears that the vast majority of commenters — both under McMullen's Twitter post and the Star story about the issue that ran in Yahoo News — agree with Piper that the kids chanting "Let's go Brandon!" is indoctrination.

On the other hand, it appears to have been hunky-dory for leftists to shout "F*** Donald Trump!" from the rooftops — no euphemisms required — and also to complain just as loudly about "Let's go Brandon!"
