Michelle Obama 'will not be running for president,' comms director for her office says

Former first lady Michelle Obama will not mount a presidential bid, director of communications for her office Crystal Carson noted, according to NBC News.

"As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president," Carson noted, according to the outlet. "Mrs. Obama supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' re-election campaign."

"President and Michelle Obama were enormously helpful in the fight to beat Donald Trump and elect President Biden and Vice President Harris the first time and we are grateful to have their voice and their support in the fight for the fate of our democracy this November," Biden campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz communicated in a statement, according to NBC News.

Speaking to Naga Munchetty of "BBC Breakfast" during interview in 2022, the former first lady said that she detests being asked whether she will run for president and noted that she was not going to run.

Biden, who previously served for eight years as vice president alongside President Barack Obama, appears to be gliding toward victory in the 2024 Democratic presidential nominating contest. Biden is the oldest president in American history and would be 86 by the end of a second term.

According to the Associated Press, the president racked up wins in Democratic presidential nominating contests on Super Tuesday.
