Deadly love triangle: Michigan woman accused of murdering 'best friend,' they had been brawling for days over the same man

A Michigan woman has been accused of murdering another woman involved in a deadly love triangle.

Around 4 a.m. on June 6, deputies with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office responded to an assault call in the Village of Capac – approximately 50 miles north of Detroit. A male caller told the police dispatcher that an assault had happened earlier in the night, but a woman had been unconscious, according to officials.

Police said Raquelle Casillas, 44, had been fighting with another 44-year-old woman from Almont – who has yet to be identified. At the home, police found the male caller, a female suspect, and the unconscious woman.

Police found the unidentified woman lying on the floor, unconscious, but she was breathing. The woman was rushed to the McLaren Lapeer Hospital with severe head trauma. She was pronounced dead around 11:30 a.m. two days later.

The two women – who were reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with the same man – had been brawling against each other on and off for days, according to police.

Officers with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office arrested Casillas.

Strangely, Casillas posted a photo of herself with the other woman on Facebook with the caption: "Best friends." Both women are seen smiling and have black eyes, cuts, and bruises. When asked about the injuries by a commenter on Facebook, Casillas responded, "We were fighting." She added, "I took her boyfriend."

The father of Casillas told the Daily Mail, "They'd been binge drinking for a while and I think that probably had something to do with it. It was definitely the alcohol. When she's not drinking she's a different person but she started drinking the past few years - well before the relationship started. They probably got along because they were all alcoholics."

Casillas, of Mussey Township, was charged with open murder.

Casillas was denied bail and is being held at the St. Clair County Detention and Intervention Center. Casillas is scheduled to return to court on June 20.
