Murderer kills 3, including a 6-year-old little boy, at California festival

A manhunt continues for an alleged accomplice to the attacker

A murderer opened fire at a California garlic festival on Sunday, killing three people — including a 6-year-old little boy — before being shot dead by police. Another 15 victims were injured in the ambush, and authorities are still searching for a suspected accomplice.

What are the details?

The killer (whose name will not be disclosed by TheBlaze) reportedly smuggled a firearm into the Gilroy Garlic Festival by using bolt cutters to get through a metal fence surrounding the property. Once inside, the suspect began shooting indiscriminately into the crowd, wounding 15 people and killing three, including 6-year-old Stephen Romero.

Stephen was attending the festival with his mother and grandmother, who were also shot in the attack but are expected to survive their injuries. The little boy was just weeks away from entering first grade, according to NBC News.

Police officers on the scene were able to respond within a minute, engaging the attacker and killing him, the Associated Press reported. Authorities are still searching for a second suspect, who is believed to have assisted the murderer.

According to the Daily Mail, witnesses described the murderer as a white male, age between 20 and 35, who was wearing military fatigues. He reportedly told the crowd that he was "really angry" when asked why he was shooting at people. The killer was later revealed to be a 19-year-old, identified on his social media account as being of Italian and Iranian descent.

Gilroy is the garlic capital of the world, and its festival draws in 100,000 visitors each year. Gilroy is located about 30 miles south of San Jose. The AP noted that security at the event is tight, and festivalgoers must pass through a metal detector and have their bags searched before entering.
