Police allege man attacked, raped woman who was feeding her 1-year-old child at public park

Nashville police arrested a man on Friday who they allege raped a woman who was feeding her infant child.

According to police, the victim and suspect agreed to meet at a public park in Nashville last Thursday. WTVF-TV reported that the suspect and victim once dated and shared a child together. They had not seen each other in more than a year, and they met up so the suspect could see his 1-year-old child.

After spending "a while" at the park, the victim decided to head home, according to the probable cause affidavit. But before departing the park, she needed to feed her baby. The feeding took place in the back seat of her vehicle.

Police said that is the moment 24-year-old Ryean Floyd allegedly attacked the victim and "forcibly raped" her, WSMV-TV reported.

The attack allegedly lasted five minutes, and it was recorded on audio. On that recording, the victim reportedly pleaded with Floyd to stop assaulting her while the baby screamed in the background. The police report said that Floyd's voice can be heard on it.

After the assault, the victim was treated for injuries at a nearby hospital, Law & Crime reported.

Police arrested Floyd on Friday. Court records show that he is charged with two serious felonies: aggravated rape causing bodily injury and aggravated kidnapping. He is being held at the Metro Nashville jail on a total bond of $65,000.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 12.

Monique Becker, a mother who brings her young child to the same East Nashville park, told WSMV that she was not surprised to hear about the alleged attack.

"I always lock my doors and stay alert," she told the local news station. "Monitor who is around me. I don't let people get too close. Like 10 feet and then I start looking behind me and start thinking of contingency plans should they do anything that’s in my bubble."
