Comedian Samantha Bee admits she takes it easy on Biden, despite hammering Trump: 'I can't deny that'

'I think that's probably true across the board," she added

Liberal comedian Samantha Bee admitted recently that she pulls punches when it comes to telling disparaging jokes about Democratic President Joe Biden.

What are the details?

Bee, the host of TBS' "Full Frontal," mocked former President Donald Trump incessantly during his four years in office. But on Tuesday she told left-wing journalist Dan Rather on his SiriusXM program that different rules apply when it comes to Biden.

During the interview, Rather bluntly asked Bee, "Do you, or do you not, find yourself sometimes at least tempted to kind of pull your punches?"

"In other words, you, myself, and a lot of people, [were] more or less free-swingers against President Trump," he continued. "But now that Biden is in, I don't know, do you find yourself sometimes saying, 'Oh boy, there's a nasty comedy bit I can unload on Biden,' but saying to yourself, 'I approve of him so much I'm going to pull this punch?'"

In response, Bee said, "I can't deny that that has happened," adding, "I think that's probably true across the board."

"You're like, 'OK, well, we could be making jokes about the infrastructure plan,' but in general, I'm like, 'Wow, this is great.' Why would I purposefully undermine something that seems to be a great idea, pretty much across the board?" she explained.

What else?

Bee went on to acknowledge that she is overtly political in her comedic approach.

"I don't need to make jokes just to make jokes," she said. "I like to make really targeted jokes. There are more worthy targets right now."

However, perhaps realizing that her integrity needed to be maintained, the comedian was careful to note that the Biden administration officials won't always be "immune" to her "comedically interrogating what they're doing."

As an example, Bee said she is "planning on doing a segment about what's happening at the border because we really don't understand it." She refrained from calling the situation a crisis.

Anything else?

The approach that Bee outlined to Rather was far different from the one she employed during Trump's presidency.

In 2018, Bee was forced to apologize after calling the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, a "feckless c**t" during an episode of "Full Frontal." TBS scrubbed the entire episode from all of its platforms.

"I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers to using an expletive on my show to describe her last night," Bee said. "It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line and I deeply regret it."
