A 16-year-old Florida boy is dead after he and another teen reportedly took turns firing guns at each other while wearing body armor, police said.
The Belleview Police Department issued a press release on Facebook announcing that the shooter and a second teen, both 17 years old, have been arrested in connection with the boy's death.
What are the details?
Authorities say that they responded to a call for service in connection with a shooting on Sunday, April 3.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered 16-year-old Christopher Leroy Broad Jr. inside a residence and mortally wounded from a gunshot.
Broad was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Authorities arrested 17-year-old Joshua Vining and and 17-year-old Colton Whitler in connection with Christopher's death.
Vining faces charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm, and Whitler faces charges of providing false information to law enforcement.
A release from the department stated that Belleview Police Department lead detective Sgt. Michael Miley, who is investigating the case, "discovered evidence to prove that Vining shot and killed Broad."
"Through the investigation, it was determined that Vining and Broad were taking turns shooting at each other while wearing a vest which contained a form of body armor," the release read in part. "Vining shot at Broad while he was wearing the vest and he was struck. Whitler, who was initially interviewed as a witness to the shooting, misled officials with inaccurate information about what took place and who shot Broad."
Both teens are both being charged as adults.
WKMG-TV reported that the shooting was captured on video by an unnamed 18-year-old who was also reportedly inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
Affidavits obtained by the outlet stated that the video showed Vining holding a bulletproof vest up to the camera along with a 9mm handgun and asking if those watching had "ever seen anyone get shot with a bulletproof vest on."
Elsewhere in the video, Vining can be seen shooting Broad, who is wearing the vest, a total of five times.
