A Texas man who rapped about his gun having an automatic switch was arrested for possessing a machine gun and he faces 10 years in prison.

Arlington Police said they found the weapon when 25-year-old Keidric Brown was pulled over on a traffic stop on January 17 for an expired insurance.

The officer said that she smelled marijuana during the stop and initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle. Under the driver's seat the officer found a "Glock 9mm pistol with a 31-round high-capacity, extended magazine and a red plastic switch attached to the rear of the firearm’s slide," according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.

The Department of Justice defines a machine gun as a weapon that fires more than one bullet with a single trigger pull without manual reloading.

When an officer of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms tested the gun, they "concluded it was a machine gun that fired in a fully-automatic fashion."

Investigators said they searched Brown's phone and found texts about the purchase of a Glock switch. During his trial they also played his rap videos that included lyrics referring to his gun coming with a switch.

ATF Dallas Field Division Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey C. Boshek II explained the dangers of the altered weapon.

"I cannot stress enough how dangerous machine gun conversion devices are and the levels at which they are being used in our communities," said Boshek.

"Due to the diligent work of our law enforcement partners, specifically the Arlington Police Department, Mr. Brown will now have several years to think about his attempt to brazenly carry a machine gun around our streets," he added.

Boshek said that the device kits can be ordered from China and can be manufactured with a 3D printer in under an hour.

He added that they were "the scariest thing I've seen in my time as an ATF agent."

Brown was arrested and convicted of the weapons charge. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
