Listen: ‘Who needs good PR?’: Rose McGowan says ‘do the math’ on the #MeToo movement
February 02, 2018
What happened?
Actress Rose McGowan, who was among the first to sound the alarm on producer Harvey Weinstein’s alleged history as a sexual predator, was back to point the finger at more people complicit in Hollywood’s corruption in an interview with Nightline.
“It feels like people are dancing on our graves,” McGowan said of #TimesUp and the actors who recently wore black on the red carpet. “It’s a lie, and I knew they were going to trot the activists out there for PR.”
What is her accusation?
McGowan is one of the women accusing Weinstein of rape. He has been accused of sexual misconduct ranging from sexual harassment to assault by more than 90 women.
Didn’t she say something about Alyssa Milano?
Yes. McGowan pointed out that her former “Charmed” co-star Alyssa Milano is married to a Creative Artists Agency employee. Milano got a lot of attention for highlighting sexual harassment and assault in the entertainment industry with the #MeToo hashtag movement, but is she too deeply involved to be trusted?
“Do you think I don’t know these people?” McGowan said. (Milano’s husband, Dave Bugliari, is an agent with CAA.) “Do the math. Who’s behind Time’s Up? CAA. Where do they meet? CAA? Who needs good PR? CAA. Who are part of the pimp problem? CAA.”
