Take a look at what George W. Bush has been working on to aid veterans

Former president George W. Bush has taken up oil painting in his retirement from public life, and his subjects are people who have served in the United States military.

On today's "Pure Opelka," Mike Opelka talked about Bush's art exhibit at the Bush Center in Dallas.  The exhibit will remain until October 1.

If you can't make it to Southern Methodist University by then, the former president's work as been published in the book "Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief's Tribute to American Warriors."

There is also a golf tournament today in Dallas for wounded veterans called the Warrior Open, as well as an upcoming collaboration with the Byron Nelson golf tournament to help benefit the work for veterans done by the Bush Center.

If you're noticing a theme, the Bush Center focuses primarily on veteran recovery, wellness, and transition into civilian life.
