Thomas Sowell: The 'race industry' only produces 'hopelessness' in the black community
July 12, 2017
Peter Thiel, co-author of "The Diversity Myth: Multiculturalism and Political Intolerance on Campus," spoke about the "lie of multiculturalism and diversity." Mike Slater drew attention to Thiel's remarks on the latest "Mike Slater Show," as well as to comments made by renowned economist Dr. Thomas Sowell to demonstrate how cultural pressure and race baiting have caused people to doubt their futures, rather than be excited about them.
Sowell noted the disparity in attitude between young black people graduating college in the 1950s versus those graduating today. In the '50s, black people arguably faced far more legal and societal barriers to success but had more optimism when pursuing higher education and elite employment, such as piloting aircraft.
"Hopelessness is one of the big products of the race industry," Sowell said.
