California is fired up over citizenship question in 2020 census, but not for the reason you'd think
March 30, 2018
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced Monday that the U.S. census will reinstate a question on citizenship status.
Within hours of the announcement, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra tweeted, “Filing suit against @realdonaldtrump's Administration over decision to add #citizenship question on #2020Census,” adding that, “the question is not just a bad idea — it is illegal."

Though the Democrats would have us believe their concern lies solely in the welfare of illegal aliens and their elected representation, Glenn suspects that left-wing politicians fear losing seats if illegal aliens aren't counted when congressional districts are drawn up.
"What this is really all about: power, voting power."
"The real reason why California and all other progressive lawmakers are upset over this [is] because this seemingly benign question actually threatens something they've been building for over a decade," explained Glenn on today's show. "What this is really all about [is] power, voting power. The entire purpose of the census ... is to determine how many representatives are allotted for each state."
"They are scared to death that the citizenship question on the census might cause illegal immigrants to skip filling it out entirely, and what would that mean? It would mean that the state and local governments would lose representatives and funding from the United States Government in grant money. They'd lose the weaponized political power that they've been building for years."
