Caller describes the deteriorating circumstances in Venezuela: 'They are killing people

As things continue to deteriorate in Venezuela, one caller joined Glenn Beck on air to discuss the utter desperation his family is facing in Venezuela and how important he believes it is that the media continue to cover this crisis.

In an emotional phone call, Andre from Florida shares the pride he feels in coming to America and how much he appreciates a free press while highlighting the absolute heartbreak he feels for his home country.

“It’s really tough. They are killing people in the streets,” said Andre.

“Andre, how can we help? How can somebody help?” asked Beck. Andre said that he feels there hasn’t been enough media coverage and that if we truly want to help, we must continue to discuss what’s unfolding. Venezuelans lack independent media and journalists and rely solely on the government to receive any information about the country’s downward spiral.

“But I know that it’s tough because I speak with my family every single day. They are killing teenagers in the street,” said Andre who worries about the safety of his family in the country.

“I came here about two years ago, and I mean, thanks to you, I think I understood finally what makes America the greatest country on Earth. And I feel so bad that things are so tough in Venezuela,” said Andre.

Since moving to America, Andre says he’s found something he can believe in. “I found values. I found principles. I found so many things that they (sic) were just unknown to me.’

When asked about how his family is doing, Andre revealed that every month he and his aunt send boxes and boxes of food and medicine but fear the Venezuelan government will seize it at any time.
