George Clinton: If you think racial tensions are a problem, wait till we’re ‘dealing with aliens’
March 01, 2018
What’s going on?
Parliament-Funkadelic founder George Clinton chatted with Rolling Stone while on the road for his new tour. The funk legend had some gems about alien encounters and cultural appropriation in the interview.
Doc and Jeffy talked about the hilarious interview covering everything from LSD to “bug-eyed” aliens on today’s show. Clinton admonished Americans to learn to get along with one another before we're dealing with aliens on other planets.
"George Clinton ... coming up with solutions to the racial divide," Doc quipped.
Give me some key quotes:
On whether white artists can cover black music: “I'd bite off the Beatles, or anybody else. It's all one world, one planet and one groove. You're supposed to learn from each other, blend from each other, and it moves around like that.”
On why society needs to get along ASAP: “We gonna be dealing with aliens. You think black and white gonna be a problem? [Aliens] could be ready to party, or they could be ready to eat us. We don't know, but we've got to get over this shit of not getting along with each other.”
On his optimism about America’s future: “You just have to figure your way how to dance your way out of your constriction. And pray, have faith and all that s***.”
