Planned Parenthood was the second biggest loser in the Georgia special election this week. They spent $734,000 to get Democrat Jon Ossoff elected to Georgia’s Sixth congressional district, only to be defeated by Republican Karen Handel by four points.
Only the Democratic National Committee itself spent more money on Ossoff than Planned Parenthood. The most expensive House race in history went to the pro-life Republican.
Planned Parenthood also tried to paint Handel as anti-women's health when she was vice president of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which raises money for breast cancer research. The organization severed ties to Planned Parenthood during her tenure, but that move had been planned before she assumed the leadership position.
