Interns from Mercury One Leadership Program gets quizzed by Glenn on the moral foundations of the US
July 21, 2017
Glenn Beck invited a group of interns from Mercury One Leadership Program to discuss what they think our moral foundation as a country relies upon.
A discussion began when interns shared a biblical view of reasons why society needs concrete moral foundations like the 10 Commandments and how society would collapse without them in our lives.
“Commandments can be defended because they’re a moral law,” said a young man in the audience. “They keep [us humans] who do bad things -- anyone who keeps up with the Middle East knows that -- and they keep it under check. So, that if we live peacefully with one another under these rules, we can have a peaceful society. So, without anything like the 10 Commandments, we can’t have any true society.”
Beck went on to say that society immediately rejects the 10 Commandments, without thought, when they hear the name, Moses.
“I really think if the 10 Commandments were just called 'Mo’s big 10' they would be accepted by society. But because they are 'Moses' and not 'Mo’s big 10,' they’re rejected by so many without even a thought,” said Beck.
“It’s a moral foundation of the West,” said another young man. “I think a lot of people would say without the 10 Commandments, you don’t actually have a basis for law. And if it’s not someone from above telling you what to do, then it’s us. And who gets to make the rules at that point?”
