President Trump signs executive order to end family separation at the border

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to keep immigrant families together. The president's unexpected action follows overwhelming pushback from both sides in response to the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy on illegal immigration, which has led to thousands of children being separated from their detained parents at the border.

"We're signing an executive order," said Trump. "I consider it to be a very important executive order. It's about keeping families together, while at the same time being sure we have a very powerful, very strong border."

Though hopeful that the president's executive order will help keep immigrant families together, Glenn had his doubts as to whether the executive order will work due to existing Federal laws. "Hopefully an improved approach gets implemented," said Glenn on the show today. He then observed the irony of what he called "this partisan nightmare" when most Americans are actually in agreement that we should not be separating children from their parents. "The weird part of the border crisis episode is that we are so blinded by our tribal outrage that we're largely missing a very important fact: that most of America, left and right, actually agree on this. Why are we arguing?"
