American hero Jesus Campos — alone and unarmed — distracted Vegas shooter and cleared hotel floor
October 05, 2017
This story will hopefully renew your faith in humanity. If anyone ever deserved a Presidential Medal of Freedom, it's hotel security guard Jesus Campos. Campos was the first to approach the gunman at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and potentially saved many more lives through his heroic actions.
Campos was the first to realize that the killer was on the 32nd floor. Without a weapon, Campos approached the gunman's hotel room and was shot in the leg through the door. Instead of fleeing, Campos remained outside his room, alerted police, and cleared the floor going door to door.
Despite officers ordering Campos to leave and tend to his wound, he stayed until every person on the 32nd floor had left.
Pretty amazing. Read more details here.
