Economics 101 with MSNBC's Contessa Brewer

Since MSNBC host Contessa Brewer is apparently such an expert in economics, folks on Twitter today pondered what kinds of things they might learn in an Econ 101 class taught by Professor Brewer.

Here are some of my favorite creative responses:

  • 401k = a really long race
  • Laissez Faire = An annual music festival featuring Sarah McLachlan
  • Inelastic Demand = Spanx
  • Keynesian = Someone born in Keynesia, duh
  • Profit: That's like Mohammed in Islam, right?
  • Coefficient = Hybrid cars!
  • Hedge funds = Monies paid to the landscaper
  • Gross Domestic Product (GDP) = McRibs (humbly submitted by our own Brian Sack)
  • Trickle Down = Something about Chris Matthews' leg when Obama speaks...
  • Laffer Curve = Wrinkles caused by excessive smiling
