What's the Oddest Thing Found at Gadhafi's Compound? How About a Condi Rice Photo Album

"Leezza, Leezza, Leezza."

As the Libyan rebels stormed Moammar Gadhafi's Tripoli compound this week, they uncovered a trove of interesting items, including a general's hat and solid gold scepter from the colonel's bedroom.

But perhaps nothing was as strange as the cache of photographs of former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The pictures of Rice -- whom Gadhafi once referred to in saccharine terms as his "darling" -- are bound in an album and include full-page glossy images and smaller snapshots. The photos, many of them close-ups, show her at public events: giving speeches and standing behind podiums.

Rice had dinner with Gadhafi during a diplomatic visit to Libya in 2008 and apparently made quite the impression.

"I support my darling black African woman," Gadhafi previously said about her in a 2007 interview with Al Jazeera. "I admire and am very proud of the ways she gives orders to the Arab leaders ... Leezza, Leezza, Leezza ... I love her very much. I admire her and I'm proud of her because she's a black woman of African origin."
