Speaking to radio host Steve Malzberg on Tuesday, Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum weighed in with his thoughts on Donald Trump serving as moderator of the Newsmax ION Television Presidential Debate in Iowa on December 27.

When asked how he felt about a Trump-hosted debate, Santorum explained that, given the recent string of left-leaning journalists who have served as moderators -- some of which he has "not felt comfortable" with -- Trump could not be any worse.

"Brian Williams, I wasn't comfortable with," started Santorum, adding, “and I had every right not to be, given the questions he asked."

“You go down the list of all the people they’ve had, these reporters who have tried to make this debate about them and not about the candidates and what they believe in, and rearranging time to make sure the people that they wanted to have time, get time."

“I can’t see, in some cases, where Donald Trump would be any worse than what we get from the mainstream media,”

Some of the reporters who drew scorn in the radio segment included Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer and Charlie Rose to name a few.

Santorum also blasted previous debates for asking for “silly 30-second answers on how to solve world peace.”

“They don’t really make any bones about hiding their opinion,” Santorum said in reference to the mainstream media. “It used to be that the media may have quietly kept their own counsel and tried to do a reasonably fair job of reporting the news. Now they’re very explicit about the positions they take and the criticisms they level against conservatives."
