Romney Supporters Thwart Hecklers' 'Mic Check' in Iowa

"Mitt! Mitt!"

While Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney may have some momentum on his side in Iowa, he certainly does not have the support of Occupy protesters. The Des Moines Register reports that three Occupy the Caucus protesters were arrested before a Romney campaign event in Clive Monday. CSPAN video shows Romney hecklers in the crowd drowned out by supporters chanting "Mitt! Mitt!:"

The Hill reports that the protesters were trying to call a "mic check."

Twelve other Occupy protesters were arrested Monday at the Renaissance Savery hotel in downtown Des Moines, where the Register reports that two dozen demonstrators, some with dollar bills taped across their mouths, were protesting the role of money in politics and the National Defense Authorization Act. Register photographers caught some of the "die-in" protesters lying on the floor of the hotel:

The Hill notes that OWS protestors have disrupted various Iowa events over the last several weeks. Five were arrested outside Ron Paul’s headquarters last Thursday, and others have protested outside of Romney’s and President Obama’s Iowa offices.
