Hip-hop star Nicki Minaj has danced with controversy before, literally on the stage with M.I.A. when the artist expressed an obscene hand gesture live during this year's Super Bowl halftime show, as well as experiencing a wardrobe malfunction during a recent performance on ABC's Good Morning America. The appearance of Minaj and an unnamed accomplice on the red carpet during this year's Grammy Awards is likely to garner its fair share of criticism as well. The Daily Mail reports on the audacious outfit:
"In a controversial move, the rapper arrived arm-in-arm with a man dressed up as the Pope.
Wearing a blonde wig and sequinned gloves, Minaj looked like a cross-between Red Riding Hood and a nun in a blood red habit.
A woman’s face appeared on the skirt of her dress. What seemed to be black pearls dotted the outline of the image.
According to insiders the dress is a reference to her upcoming song, Roman In Moscow. "
Minaj was one of the few celebrities in attendance at Sunday's event in Los Angeles not wearing black in observance of Whitney Houston's sudden death Saturday.
