Woman Passes Out During Obama's Speech, President Jokes: 'Folks Faint All the Time at My Events
March 07, 2012
"You always have to eat before you stand for a long time. That's a little tip."
During President Obama's speech at the Daimler Motors truck plant in Mount Holly, a woman in the crowd fainted. Video has now surfaced from the event and reveals what many might consider a cold reaction to an individual who was clearly unwell and required medical attention.
After an awkward moment in which he seemed to be at a loss for words, Obama announced, "somebody fainted up here," then fumbled to find the words to ask that someone call a paramedic.
He then quipped, "folks do that [faint] all the time when I speak," adding, "you always have to eat before you stand for a long time. That's a little tip."
The remark drew laughs from the crowd, save for the woman, of course, who was presumably unconscious and, according to the Charlotte Observer, was wheeled out on a stretcher.
Needless to say, it is difficult to imagine the stricken supporter would have found the Commander in Chief's dismissive tone humorous had she been alert.
The President didn't skip a beat however, resuming his remarks as planned:
