Wisconsin journalists called out by publisher for signing anti-Gov. Walker petition
March 26, 2012
A couple dozen reporters for a Wisconsin newspaper signed a petition that pushes for a recall of Gov. Scott Walker.
Kevin Corrado, publisher of The Greenbay Press, penned a column Friday explaining the matter but did not identify the journalists who signed the petition.
[T]he fact that any of Gannett Wisconsin Media's 223 news employees did sign the petition is disheartening. It has caused us to examine how this could have happened, how we will address it and how we will prevent it from happening again. Most important is informing our readers and being as open as possible.
Corrado said none of the reporters had "involvement in our news or political coverage" or are on the publication's investigative team.
Walker has drawn the ire of opponents for cutting state spending and trimming state employee benefits.
