Don't Tell Michelle: Major Obama Donor Warren Buffett Calls War on Soda 'Silly' and Reveals the Way He Let Bloomberg Know
October 29, 2012
“If I'd been on broccoli and spinach, I would have been gone a long time ago."
He eats ice cream for breakfast. He likes red meat. And he admits he drinks about 60 oz. of Cherry Coke a day. The "he" is Obama superfan Warren Buffett. And while the billionaire is all in for Obama, he was candid on Wednesday about his criticisms of the latest health craze that has New York City banning sugary drinks over 16 ozs.
"In the end, I've elected to the foods to eat over the years that I like to eat and I think it's kept me quite healthy," Buffett said on CNBC last week. “If I'd been on broccoli and spinach, I would have been gone a long time ago."
Buffett, by the way, owns holdings in both Dairy Queen and Coca-Cola.
"I drink about 60 oz, about 5 12 oz cans, of Cherry Coke a day," he explained. "My doctor told me, 'drink more liquids.' I said, 'how about Cherry Coke,' and he said, 'That's fine.'"
As for Bloomberg, Buffett joked about a dinner he had recently with the mayor in which Buffett was sure to have a "great big bottle of Coke, the biggest bottle I could find" brought out so that he could drink it in front of Bloomberg.
"I wasn't going to let him have any," he chuckled.
