CBS Producer Refuses to Retract John Kerry Yacht Story -- and There's a Video That Could Help His Case

"Any report or tweet that he was on a boat is completely inaccurate."

Since the reports of Secretary of State John Kerry allegedly spending time on his yacht Wednesday—the same day Egypt's former president was ousted from office—there's been a flurry of denials and explanations. Still, the CBS reporter who first noted the story refuses to retract it -- and there could be evidence that backs up his claims.

Let's start breaking it down with CNN's Jake Tapper:

Here's a report from WBZ-TV in Boston:

More from WBZ-TV:

Kerry spokesperson Jen Psaki denied the report.

“Since his plane touched down in Washington at 4 am, Secretary Kerry was working all day and on the phone dealing with the crisis in Egypt,” Psaki said in a statement.

Kerry was absent from a White House photo showing President Obama meeting with members of his national security team to discuss the situation in Egypt, but Psaki said he had dialed in on a secure phone line for that meeting.

“He participated in the White House meeting with the President by secure phone and was and is in non-stop contact with foreign leaders, and his senior team in Washington and Cairo.”

Earlier a State Department spokesperson said she could not comment on Kerry’s whereabouts on Wednesday, but said Kerry is kept in the loop on all the latest developments.

“The secretary’s department is in touch with officials regarding the developments in Egypt at all levels at all times,” State Department Press Secretary Beth Gosselin said in a statement.

However, the CBS This Morning senior producer who posted the original tweet regarding Kerry allegedly aboard his yacht has not retracted his report. Rather Mosheh Oinouou first acknowledged that the state department denied the allegation:

He followed that with:

To clarify, Oinounou seems to have been with a fellow CBS This Morning producer at the time who reportedly saw Kerry aboard the yacht (though Oinounou notes in the state department denial tweet above that "we saw" Kerry):

Twitchy adds these tidbits to the mix.

From Nantucket reporter Jason Graziadei:

Graziadei even posted a Vine video "purportedly of Kerry’s motorcade trying to navigate a roundabout. The video was posted to Twitter on July 3rd at about noon ET," Twitchy notes:

So, where in the world was Kerry on July 3? It's apparently still a mystery.
