Not cool: Russian official uses Navy Yard shooting to mock America

Piggybacking on Russian President Vladimir Putin's dismissal of American exceptionalism in the New York Times last week, a member of the Russian parliamentary foreign affairs committee tweeted out a disgusting comment in the midst of the unfolding Navy Yard shooting this morning.

Here's the original tweet from Alexey Pushkov:

Buzzfeed has translated the tweet to read: "A new shootout at Navy headquarters in Washington - a lone gunman and 7 corpses. Nobody’s even surprised anymore. A clear confirmation of 'American exceptionalism.'"

Minutes later, Pushkov also send out this message in English:

The details of this morning's shootings are still being uncovered, but this sentiment and its timing are asinine in any language.
