A Brand New Way to Protect Your Property From Thieves

"Brent Police say very clearly to any would-be thieves - don't come to Brent - our trap cars and trap houses are waiting for you."

Thieves are going to have a hard time getting away with crime if more people rig their vehicles and equipment with traceable liquid Smartwater, according to The Telegraph.

At least that's what the police department in Brent, England, is doing.

Thanks to Smartwater, a dye that becomes visible under ultra violet light, thieves like Yafet Askale, 28, is behind bars.

Under ultra-violet light, Askale resembles a terrifying comic book menace.

It seems he was only a menace that day to the police who set up a trap car to capture thieves. According to The Telegraph, Askale stole a laptop that, when he activated, sprayed him with the substance. It also the alerted police that the car had been broken into.

Detective Inspector Madeline Ryder, of Brent Police, said the picture should serve as a warning and "this is another excellent example of the thorough work completed by Brent Officers. Using the trap car technology we were able to charge Askale and put him before the courts.

The police said "the trap car forms part of an overall crime reduction strategy designed by SmartWater which is an effective weapon in the armoury of tools that we routinely use in Brent. We will continue to target those who are insistent on committing these types of offense."
