Soledad O'Brien: my canceled CNN show 'had impact

Soledad O'Brien, who now runs her own media company and partners with Al Jazeera America, had her CNN show canceled in February. Even so, O'Brien recently told Mediabistro that her show, which lasted about a year, made a difference in the 2012 presidential election year.

"I would say modestly that a lot of the big political news made that year was done on my show," she said. "We really had impact."

O'Brien grew notorious, mostly on media news websites, for testy on-air confrontations with Republican political figures like former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu.

After her show was canceled, she told the Huffington Post that her show "did not get a lot of promotion. We did not get a lot of marketing. We weren't fully staffed."
