"...trusted the power within."

Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman was born legally deaf.

But that didn’t stop the 23-year-old from pursuing his dream of playing professionally in the NFL.

With a lot of hard work, and despite being passed over and told he would never make it, Coleman overcame his struggles with being hearing-impaired, worked his way up from being a member of the Seahawks’ practice squad in 2012 and went on to become the NFL’s first legally deaf offensive player.

And in honor of Coleman’s achievement, Duracell released an ad this month telling the fullback’s story.

“They came to me, and said they liked my story, and I said ‘OK’, I want to join up,” Coleman told Adweek. “I just hope to inspire people, especially children, to trust the power within and achieve their dreams.”

The ad, which has earned more than two million views since it was first posted Friday, is narrated by Coleman.

“When the world tells you ‘no’, you have two options: You can roll over and quit -- or you can trust your power,” the video’s YouTube description reads. “Derrick Coleman, running back for the Seattle Seahawks, trusted the power within.”

“Although he's deaf, he never let adversity stand in his way, on his road to the NFL,” the video adds.
