Don't expect a straight answer from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on whether he's smoked marijuana before. He "never" answers the question yes or no, as he said in an interview on Monday.
"You know why I never answer that question?" Rubio said before the question was even completely asked by Fusion’s Mariana Atencio. "I'll tell you why I never answer that question. If I tell you that I haven't, you won't believe me. And if I tell you that I did, then kids will look up to me and say, 'well, I can smoke marijuana because look how he made it. He did alright, so I guess I can do it too.'"
Rubio went on to say that as a teenager he "made dumb decisions as is" without the "help" of marijuana.
"Here's the problem, you can make mistakes at 17 that will be with you for the rest of your life," he said.
Rubio concluded that a yes or now answer to the question "at this point" is "irrelevant."
