King of Queens' Actress Says Abandoning Her Faith Brought Her Family 'Closer

"...this is something that the family loves to do."

Actress Leah Remini's very public split with Scientology made headlines last summer, with the entertainer recently telling TV host Ellen DeGeneres that abandoning her faith actually brought her family closer together.

Remini's comments came after DeGeneres asked the "King of Queens" actress, who is filming a reality show about her life that is set to air on TLC, whether she would have considered filming such an intimate show if she were still a Scientologist.

The actress didn't directly answer, but responded by noting that leaving the church has left her family searching for new ways to relate to one another.

"I think now that we're gone we're learning new ways to ... reconnect with each other so it really has brought us closer together," she said. "I think we’re stronger and we’re having so much fun together and this is something that the family loves to do."
