"Governor, do you really believe there's some kind of conspiracy to get people into the United States by the federal government, by the Obama administration?"
Texas Governor Rick Perry had his hands full Sunday on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" with cohost Martha Raddatz, who peppered the Republican with impassioned questions that appeared to defend President Obama's position on illegal immigration — and the federal government in general.
Raddatz pointed to Perry's "pretty serious allegations against the federal government" regarding border security in a previous interview he gave to Fox News in which Perry wondered how so many illegals could cross the border without a "coordinated effort."
Chiding Perry's remarks, Raddatz asked, "Governor, do you really believe there's some kind of conspiracy to get people into the United States by the federal government, by the Obama administration?"
Perry doubled down, noting that when a May 2012 letter to Obama about border security has yet to be answered, "They either are inept or don't care," adding that Obama may have an "ulterior motive" amid the crisis.
