The Outrageously Inappropriate Place Anti-Israel Activists Staged a ‘Blood Bucket Challenge’

"You need to know about the depravity of the anti-Israel movement."

Jewish anti-Israel activists traveled to sites around Israel – including the national Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem - to stage a “blood bucket challenge” to protest Israeli policies they described as “genocide” and “apartheid.”

The group, which calls itself “Jews Against Genocide”, posted a video in which the activists are shown pouring liquid meant to resemble blood over their heads, in a twist to the Ice Bucket Challenge aimed at raising awareness for the illness ALS.

Based on their accents and difficulty in reading the scripted statements in English, it appeared that most of those featured in the video could be  Israeli.

Besides Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, the group -- which supports efforts to boycott Israel -- included excerpts of their stunts in front of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel’s High Court of Justice and the Knesset.

The group wrote on Facebook that they were inspired by Megan Marzec, the Ohio University student senate president who earlier this month posted a video of herself using the medical fundraising appeal to bash Israel.

There are currently petitions being circulated among students calling for a recall election to remove Marzec from her position following her using her status as a student representative to gain attention for her anti-Israel dramatization.

William Jacobson of the Legal Insurrection blog noted that the anti-Israel group appears to have been formed only in July.

Jacobson wrote of the Yad Vashem display, “You need to know about the depravity of the anti-Israel movement, including among some leftist Jews.”

At his speech to the United Nations Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu listed what he called Hamas war crimes during the summer hostilities, including the Islamist group embedding its missiles in residential neighborhoods, instructing Palestinians to ignore Israel’s warnings to leave, and executing Gazans who protested Hamas.

“Hamas deliberately placed its rockets where Palestinian children live and play,” Netanyahu said. “Israel was using its missiles to protect its children. Hamas was using its children to protect its missiles.”

Here is the video of the “blood bucket challenge” tour around Israel.
