Brothers Apprehended in Connection With Fatal Shootings of Two Mississippi Police Officers

Curtis Banks and Marvin Banks have previous felony convictions in Hattiesburg.

Curtis Banks and Marvin Banks — arrested in connection with the shooting two hours earlier — are brothers who have previous felony convictions in Hattiesburg, Moore also tweeted.

UPDATE 12:40 a.m. EST: A second suspect, Marvin Banks, is also being sought in connection with the fatal shooting, WDAS reported.

UPDATE 12:23 a.m. EST: WDAS reported that Hattiesburg resident Curtis Banks is one suspect sought in connection with the fatal shooting of two police officers.

UPDATE 12:10 a.m. EST: The incident began as a traffic stop. After the shootings, one of the officers' patrol cars was stolen. That cruiser was found abandoned a few blocks from the crime scene, WDAM's Ryan Moore reported in a series of tweets.

Two police officers were fatally shot Saturday night in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, WDAM-TV reported.
BREAKING Both Hattiesburg Police Officers have died.
Pray for their families.

The officers' identities are being withheld until families are notified, WDAM said.
The circumstances that led to the shooting aren't yet clear. The suspect fled the scene in an officer's vehicle, officials told the station, and that vehicle has been located. The suspect, however, was on the loose and there is no description yet.
