He Took a Chainsaw to a Tree — and Created Something Absolutely Stunning: 'Jesus Is in This Tree Somewhere\
September 02, 2015
"I'm trying to find him."
Armed with a chisel and a chainsaw, an artist recently transformed an 8-foot tree into a stunning statue of Jesus Christ.
"Jesus is in this tree somewhere," Randy Boni told WVLT-TV as he was beginning the process. "I'm trying to find him."
It took about a month for Boni to complete the woodworking project, sawing and chiseling away at the tree as he worked on it on a busy walkway in the center of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Watch Boni take a chainsaw to the tree below:
The end result of Boni's project is a highly detailed Jesus statue that features the Christian savior with outstretched arms — a symbol that represents "victory over death" for Christians, as WVLT-TV reported.
Another individual involved with the project told the outlet that the Jesus statue was created "to remind us of that we are not here by ourselves and we're not alone."
Spirit of Jesus looking great thanks to Randy Boni, Michael Copas, Billy Reynolds and Jerry Reid

The statue will stand in Elk's Lodge Plaza, a local area in Gatlinburg.
