More than $500,000 has been raised to support the family of Darren Goforth since the Texas deputy was slain outside a Houston-area gas station late last month.

A GoFundMe page set up August 29 has raised more than $300,000, and another $232,000 has been collected outside the Chevron gas station where Goforth was fatally shot.
"I have been in and around law enforcement for many years [and] this is one of the largest outpourings of support I have ever seen," Rick Hartley, president of the 100 Club, a Houston-based organization that supports the families of fallen first responders, told KHOU-TV.
Goforth was killed after being shot at least 15 times while filling up his patrol car at a gas station near Houston August 28.
He was a 10-year veteran of the force.
