Trump Speaks Out About Lewandowski Firing: 'It's Time Now For a Different Kind of Campaign

"He’s a good guy, he’s a friend of mine..."

Donald Trump may have only good words to say about his now former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, but he stands behind his unexpected dismissal of the senior operative.

During an interview Monday night with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, Trump talked Lewandowski up as a "good man," adding that he thinks the ex-manager was "terrific" toward him.

"He’s a good guy, he’s a friend of mine, but I think it’s time now for a different kind of a campaign," the presumptive Republican nominee said.

Trump touted the fact that his campaign maintained a small staff throughout the primary process, but indicated to O'Reilly that he wanted to move forward with a "different style."

The Fox News host asked Trump if he cares about the "office politics" of behind-the-scenes tensions that comes with running a campaign. In response, Trump said he's "pretty good" at dealing with it.

"It happens everywhere, and I'm pretty good at it," he told O'Reilly. "I pretty much see where it's coming from."

O'Reilly told the businessman-turned-politician that he saw the way he dealt with office politics when he was hosting "The Apprentice" reality show.

"That's part of life. That's part of business. That's part of the social fabric of life also, in case we don't wanna talk about it, but that's part of life," Trump said.
