Grateful New York residents treat officers to coffee, pizza following explosions

New York City residents thankful for the heroic actions of the first responders following the explosions in Chelsea over the weekend are showing their gratitude by treating police to coffee and pizza.

Videos of the good Samaritans began popping up on Facebook and Instagram Monday. One clip shows locals handing police officers boxes of pizza as they guard the scene of the explosions.

Another video depicts a resident handing cops cups of coffee along with pastries. The officers appeared to be pleasantly surprised when the man hoisted three large Starbucks bags over the barrier.

Over the weekend, there were three explosions, two in New Jersey and one in New York. The explosion in Chelsea left 29 people injured, but there were no fatalities.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, the suspected bomber, was apprehended Monday after a shootout with law enforcement. He was charged with five counts of attempting to murder a law enforcement officer.
