Gingrich: 'Without one-sided assault of the news media,' Trump would be leading Clinton by 15 points
October 16, 2016
"So the news media’s one-sidedness is the worst I’ve seen in my lifetime, and I’m old enough that’s a fairly long statement."
Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Sunday blamed Republican nominee Donald Trump's falling position in the polls on media bias.
Gingrich, a top Trump surrogate, argued in an interview on ABC's "This Week" that if the media wasn't so against Trump, then he would potentially have a double digit lead over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
"I think that without the unending one-sided assault of the news media, Trump would be beating Hillary by 15 points," Gingrich said, adding that given how against Trump the media is, it's "amazing" that a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll showed Clinton up by only four points over Trump.
"So the news media’s one-sidedness is the worst I’ve seen in my lifetime, and I’m old enough that’s a fairly long statement," Gingrich, who was born in 1943 and is 73, said.
