Roger Ailes' son says he's 'coming after' those who 'betrayed' his dad: 'And hell is coming with me

The teenage son of former Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes told mourners at his father's funeral that he's "coming after" those who "betrayed" his dad.

“I want all the people who betrayed my father to know that I’m coming after them,” Zachary Ailes, 17, said during his remarks at the Palm Beach, Florida, ceremony Saturday, LifeZette reported. “And hell is coming with me.”

Ailes, 77, died Thursday after falling and hitting his head May 10 at his Palm Beach home, the New York Times reported, citing local authorities. Ailes resigned from his Fox News post in July amid sexual harassment allegations.

It's not clear who Zachary Ailes meant by "people who betrayed my father." Trouble began for Roger Ailes after former Fox News anchors Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly alleged that Ailes sexually harassed them. Ailes denied the allegations.

“I loved my father,” Zachary Ailes told LifeZette. “He considered how much certain people hated him as a measure of success.”

His "hell is coming with me" reference is presumably from the 1993 movie "Tombstone" in which Wyatt Earp, played by actor Kurt Russell, uses it to threaten outlaws who killed his brother Morgan. More formally it's from Revelation 6:8 in the Bible: "I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him."

Funeral attendees at the St. Edward Roman Catholic Church included Ethel Kennedy, the 89-year-old widow of slain U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy,  and her son Douglas Kennedy, a Fox News reporter, the Miami Herald said.

“My family used to ask why I would work in a place where everybody wants to kill me,” the younger Kennedy said jokingly, the Herald reported, as he comes from an iconic family of Democrats. “But Roger, who brought me to Fox, had such a big heart and the ability to connect with everybody. It’s never been a problem.”

Prominent conservative media figures Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham also attended the funeral. TheBlaze on Monday confirmed with Lifezette that Ingraham — the outlet's editor-in-chief — provided the quotes attributed to Zachary Ailes.

Limbaugh called Ailes "an American original,” the Herald noted. The radio host said he and Ailes would get together socially in Palm Beach.

Hannity read a Psalm at the funeral, the Herald reported, and added that the Fox News host told GossipExtra outside the church, “I wouldn’t be what I am today without Roger. He took me as a local radio host in Atlanta and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. He saw things in people that no one else would see. He is an American patriot of the highest level.”

Fox News' Kimberly Guilfoyle attended the funeral as well and called Ailes a “champion of women," LifeZette reported. Former Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich also attended, the Herald said.
