Kathy Griffin called Trump a 'piece of s**t' after his election — and brought up Barron Trump, too

Comedienne Kathy Griffin dominated headlines this week over a photo of her holding a fake bloody, decapitated head appearing to be Republican President Donald Trump's.

She was widely criticized for the photo and issued an apology. CNN cut ties with her — which presumably means host Anderson Cooper will need a new sidekick to make off-color remarks during the cable network's New Year's Eve show.

And in case you're wondering if Griffin ever expressed views that could have foreshadowed her photo fiasco, let's travel back in time a bit to last December — a month after Trump's election.

Vulture — an entertainment website under New York magazine's digital umbrella — caught up with Griffin at an event, and the conversation turned to how comedians should handle a Trump presidency.

“Now more than ever we must absolutely go for all the absurdities,” Griffin told Vulture. “For me, that’s Trump and all things Trump. It’s not about trying to be an equal-opportunity offender anymore because Hillary [Clinton] got such a beatdown. It’s his turn. So I’m happy to deliver a beatdown to Donald Trump — and also to Barron. You know a lot of comics are going to go hard for Donald, my edge is that I’ll go direct for Barron. I’m going to get in ahead of the game.”

Given the near-universal haranguing Trump has received from the left — and Hollywood — it's very likely she was serious about her stated plans for the president-elect. But as for her comments about Trump's son, then a 10-year-old? It's certainly plausible Griffin uttered them in jest.

Not that they've necessarily aged well in light of her photo. It was reported that Barron was distraught after seeing it — which fellow leftist celeb Rosie O'Donnell hopped on and used as an attack on his father.

And speaking of O'Donnell, Vulture added a quote from Griffin regarding her support for the former co-host of "The View" after she infamously suggested last fall that Barron may have autism — and Griffin proceeded to tear into his dad.

“After the beatdown he gave her, she can say whatever she wants to say to that piece of s**t,” Griffin told Vulture. “Oh, that’s President Piece of S**t.”
